Assignment #1, Diana Style

Mom found my minimum focusing distance in my specifications section of my camera manual. I didn't even know I HAD a specifications section. Another reason mom is great. I played around with both my p/s and the S1. I like the pictures with the S1 better but it is a tad inconvenient to always have with you.

I found it was harder than I thought to take candid images of my kids and get them in focus. Pausing, holding breath, and pushing 1/2 way down was hard when I wanted to get the shot but I think I am getting better.

Here are some of my favorites:

All of these are from my p/s I'll post the ones I took with the S1 when I get them downloaded.

Diana Assignment #1

So here is my theory about these pictures in general and then I will go thru specifics about why I like them. I wanted to find pictures that would represent more what I would like to do with snapshots. I am a lover of a lot of photos that are more posed and I put one in here, but I really want to learn more concepts to make my snapshots of my kids better. I got most of these off of a blog that Ashley introduced me to pfarm photograph, I really love how she captures her kids.
These are in no particular order:

I love the angle of this photo, it is so unique. I also like that just his face is in focus.

I love the background on this shot. I like the b/w with the snowy background. I also like that they aren't centered.

I like that the chalk is in focus as opposed to her face. Athough I think it is important to document your kids' faces, I also like that you can focus on what they are doing or their interests.

I LOVE the lighting on this one and they way that she isn't looking at the camera.
I think I mostly love the sentiment of this picture, eventhough it is a portrait, it doesn't seem posed. I like the light of course, but I also like his dirty feet and the way he is loving his mommy.

Again, I love the unique view of this. I like the focus being on there hands and everything else is blurred.

I like that it is in black and white, I think in color it would have lost something. I also like the silhouette look, and her hair flying up.

I love the lighting on this.

I just think this is a great "bathtub photo." Again, a unique perspective.

I like this for the same reason I liked the one with the chalk.
